Hello Friends. This blog post is well overdue. Like back in March over due…where does time go, seriously.
Well anyway, back in March I held the first Circle of Beauty Workshop in downtown Goshen. The Circle of Beauty Workshop was created to empower local young women by developing their confidence and skills in business and networking, self-respect, communication, health & wellness, financial planning, civic duty, entrepreneurship, stress management and even self-defense. We also covered topics such as dressing for success with modesty, hair & makeup and skin care. Our goal is to give young women the confidence they will need to succeed in high school and beyond as well as in their communities by building a bridge to local experts which will result in positive growth and development. We aim to help build the future leaders in our community and ensure that young women have the tools they need to succeed in whatever path they choose.
Not only did we have an amazing group of young ladies, including MY Street Team Girls but I had many amazing helping hands in putting this event together. Elkhart County is full of so many hard-working and incredibly generous professionals and business owners.
The girls first evening schedule included:
Dinner at Blank Space in downtown Goshen, such a beautiful place
Financial Planning with Joel Hawkins from Edward Jones (Elkhart)
Skin Care with Cheyenne Ketcham
Make-Up with Jessica Croy & Makayah Fervida
Hair with Amanda Hite from Platinum Design
Head shots with yours truly 😉
and then we danced the night away with Keirsten Miller
The next day a group of very exhausted young ladies, thanks to late night girl fun, managed to make our way back into the classroom. It helped that we were full of sugar, thanks to Dutchmaid Bakery and their yummy donuts and other tasty pastries. We enjoyed time with:
Leadership Development with Mike Garty
Fitness with Naomi Troyer with Revelation Wellness
Health & Wellness with Katie Carl from Integrative Massage
Stress Management Dr. Anne Theil with Progressive Wellness
Women in Leadership & Confidence with Miss Northeast Indiana Emily Mishler
Self Defense with Courtney & Brock from Success Martial Arts
Needless to say we enjoyed our moments kicking each other’s butts and trying on sparkly crowns and maybe even learning a thing or two in between giggles. It was a jam-packed weekend but a successful and fun first year. I’m excited to plan next years and meet some more incredible young ladies and local professionals.
I want to give a special thank you to the following sponsors:
Dutchmaid Bakery for sharing your yummy pastries for breakfast
Kroger & Martin’s for help towards our grocery bill
Hacienda for chips and salsa to cure late night munchies
Doug Hansen, my Father in law, for making the delicious lasagna that every girl would like the recipe to
and of course to all those who volunteered their time speaking, helping set up, and tear down. Another special thanks to my husband Carl for always being willing to help with my crazy ideas and Amanda Hite for always being a willing helping hand and Emily Mishler for being willing to give a hand where needed. Your generosity does not go unnoticed…love you all. Can’t wait for next year.
